Here at Battle of The Bay we appreciate the things that make our sport special and a big part of that is the water. So get on board with us as we team up with Baykeeper to protect and preserve the stuff we ride on.
Have you ever watched a beautiful day pass you by because the water quality was too poor to risk going out on the bay? Or have you ended up sick because you dared to paddleboard after a storm flushed run-off and sewage into the bay? (nearly 250 million gallons of undertreated sewage was dumped into the bay this past rainy season!) As paddleboarders we appreciate some of the best the Bay has to offer, but we also feel the direct effects of pollution. We have a stake in fighting to keep our water clean.

Founded in 1989, San Francisco Baykeeper works to reverse the environmental degradation of the past and promote new strategies and policies to protect the water quality of the San Francisco Bay. For more than two decades, Baykeeper has been the premier watchdog of the water quality of San Francisco Bay.
Using the many tools at our disposal – advocacy, water quality monitoring and science, on-the-water patrols, public education and, when necessary, legal action – we compel polluters to stop contaminating our waterways and hold government agencies accountable for safeguarding and restoring the waters that belong to all of us. Baykeeper fills a unique water quality niche in the Bay Area by acting as the watchdog for the Bay and enforcing clean water laws in order to protect and restore the watershed.
